more baby news

Last week's genetic screening came back with results that were better than I could have imagined. If you consider just my age, my risk of having a baby with Down syndrome is 1 in 52. Now, after the screen, my risk factor has dropped to 1 in 305. And so far, the baby looks normal in every way. So far, so good. I'm so relieved — and yet so perplexed by the mystery that is pregnancy. How some babies (like this one) survive such seemingly tough hurdles, and others (like that of a friend whom I learned about this morning) are destined to leave us far too soon.

I'm so glad to hear that little lemmondrop2 is doing well. I'm sorry to hear about your friend though.

As you know we were told that there might be a problem with one of the triplets in utero following our nuchal fold scan and I can't tell you how relieved we were to find out the genetic results were normal.
They beat a lot of odds and I call them my little X-Men.

Guess you have a little X-Man as well.

That is great! I don't even know what waiting for those results is like. We chose not to do the screening. I suppose, considering your age and there being a way higher risk, it is something you wanted to do. Maybe to better prepare yourself had the results come back positive. We also said we wouldn't do anything different if Graycen had been born with down syndrome.
Glad all is looking well, though!
