good times

Friends I've known since our newspaper days in Mississippi came to St. Paul last week, one for a conference, the other just to hang out and visit. Laughter, pizza, pregnancy talk, manicures and lots of desserts.

Friday, we said goodbye to Jo and Liz and drove up to Wisconsin, near Lake Superior and Bayfield, and spent the weekend with friends at their cabin. (No, that's not the cabin in the picture.) Cooking, eating apple pie, flying kites, off-road driving, children running and laughing. And fudge ... luscious, finger-licking fudge!

mmmm Desserts!

I love me some Blondie's!

I'm so glad I was able to hang with you guys.

Make sure you show the kids my photo, and remind them that LizzieBoo is Daniel's personal blocking dummy. I loved the running-hugs!

What is that tree? Apples? They look like they're ready for harvest!

Oh, those pictures make me long for Fall in my home state.

Hope you're enjoying it for all of us in CA...

Sounds like a lot of fun, Emilie! I'm so happy to read that you've been enjoying good friends and good food!

I can't stop thinking about apple pie and fudge now. I think there might be some baking in my near future! :)

Oh, and Emilie, I tagged you on my blog. Just thought it'd be fun to find out some things about you.

I had such a great time meeting your kids and hanging out. My nails still look great! We did win general excellence, best small weekly paper (6600-10,000). Then we tore up IKEA -- good thing we mailed home all our dirty clothes. And Lizard and her "Mina" Garmin helped get me to the plane on time, although IMHO they shouldn't make planes that take off that early. They need some sort of plane governor.
I'm glad you enjoyed the rest of your weekend!
Hugs and smooches.
