growing and glowing

Daniel has started noticing the mobile toys that hang over his head. It's so cute — he smiles at them and bats at them with the small amount of hand-eye coordination he has so far. Today we made an expedition to BabiesRUs, and I bought a mobile to hang over his crib. (No pictures yet.) He stared at it, smiling, for nearly half an hour, which was amazing because he has been especially fussy in the past couple of days, especially when no one is holding him. (Was it the asparagus we had for dinner?) He's starting to notice people in the world around him, too — and his flirty smile is heart-melting!

P.S. Note that his Combi is next to the Harry Potter and Tolkien books. Strategic placement ... I'm hoping he notices those a few years down the road!

You are sooo cute, Em; I LOVE that you've placed your son by your Harry Potter and Tolkien books! Too funny. Adorable new picture of Daniel. Keep 'em coming!

Oh, and as a native Minnesotan who recalls trick or treating in the snow one fall, I'll cross my fingers that MN puts on a pretty show for your relatives.

Happy Baptism! Look forward to seeing more pictures of the big event.

In the land of indian summers here in Oregon (it's been in the 70s this week), I am not sure how I will handle the cold and snow yet. As if I don't get enough cold during our springs, which here are like indian winters! I guess it makes up for our late summers. Here we are talking about the weather. Anyway, I saw snow footage from Duluth on the news last night. Some angry lady scraping her front car window.
I can't wait to visit!

I hope the weather warms for the baptism party! Prayers for Daniel on his big day.

Isn't it fun that he can start interacting with people? Makes the mom job a little easier and a lot more fun!

Hey Em, the Pre-Rafaelite book should educate Daniel as well as the Harry Potters and Tolkiens. Just the picture along says a lot about his intellectual surroundings!

I love that the photo totally captures him leaning about the world around him. you can just see the intelligence in his eyes.

Yeah, that is supposed to say "learning". I know you all know that but still had to correct myself.
