horrible

Our hearts and prayers go out to the people who were on the I-35 bridge tonight when it collapsed. What an awful, awful tragedy. I can hardly believe something like this could happen here. We are OK; none of us was on that stretch of highway today. I appreciate the many e-mails we have received from friends and family checking on us.

Thank God you are all right. We're in Iowa right now & have been calling everyone we know, but the phone lines are all down. Peace...

My prayers are w/ everyone up there. How horrific. I'm glad you and your family are alright.

The pictures were very ominous. My prayers go out to the poor souls who were stuck in the midst of it all, and their families.

Last night, coming back from rehearsal, I was stuck on the Hood River bridge for twenty minutes, while they did construction. Was a bit scary, in light of that happened in Minneapolis. But at least they let us go for free (no toll)!

I've been going to Stevenson, Washington, all week, for Oliver Twist rehearsal, which includes crossing the Hood River bridge (as mentioned above).

I read today, in the Hood River newspaper, that the Hood River bridge has a 25% safety rate, out of 100%. Just great! Maybe I'll start crossing the Bridge of the Gods instead, which has a 75% or so rate.

Lots of nationwide inspections of bridges have been going on. At least it's some good that's come out of the otherwise tragic event on August 1.
