because not everything is about cancer

I've decided that David Cook is my choice for the winner of this season's American Idol. If he can nail a Phantom of the Opera tune almost as well as he did Michael Jackson's Billie Jean (which I watched over and over - such genius), he's a rock star in my book. I predict it will be David Cook and David Archuleta in the final face-off. Last night's show was interesting; Jason Castro's rendition of Memory from Cats just made me burst into sobs. Certain songs just do that to me now. And to Steve, too. (OK, so I guess it sort of is about cancer after all.)

It was amazing, David Cook last night completely won me over. Especially since my boyfriend Michael Johns got booted. I'm still not over that.

I know. The departure of our mutual boyfriend :) has been elevated in our home lately almost to the caliber of 9/11 (as in, "They should form a Michael Johns commission to find out what happened!).

I think the David's are definately the ones to beat. I felt awful for Brooke last night though. That would be one of my biggest fears about being on that show. Ugh.

That is exactly what I predicted last night too. I think younger David has an awesome voice, but David Cook has that "it" factor, IMHO.

Yes --- a David v. David finale seems likely. They are both similar and different -- similar in that they both appear kind, respectful, introspective, and talented; different in that David the Younger has the sensibility of a teenager who grew up on the Disney-fied songs that kids and young teens now grow up on, and David the Elder has been to college, performed in bars, and probably had to deal with a few knocks along the way. As I am closer in age to David the Elder, his clever takes on familiar tunes certainly resonate better than the song choices of David the Younger. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Jason is still adorable and a bankable star, I think, as is
Brooke.

David Cook is just so good at creating original arrangements. I was blown away by "Hello" and "Billie Jean." That, and he's, uh, smokin' hot! Love his weird hair. I became a bigger fan after reading in People about how he wears a rubber bracelet for a young cancer patient. See, there we are back to the C-word. He just seems so damn sensitive, which I am a sucker for. I also wouldn't have kicked Michael Johns out of bed.

I unfortunately missed Andrew Lloyd Weber night Monday but caught the booting show. Am I the only one who thought he seemed cartoon-like in that interview last night?

I agree with you Emilie about the final face off. Now that Carly bowed out (which was a HUGE surprise), I think it's a cinch that it'll be the 2 Davids.

I'm kinda hoping on the final night that David Cook and Chris Daughtry get up and rock out together (since they're apparently friends).

I love David Cook, and Brooke. I am not overly impressed with little David, although I am sure every tween girl in America is. I too agree that a David/David finale seems bankable. I am just hoping the right David (COOK) wins :)

(and if it matters, Memory even badly done, made me think of you too and burst into tears)

Archie, as we call him fondly at our house, DOES need to open up his eyes when he sings. I'm a bit tired of his ballad singing, but as he matures he'll be a really amazing talent (if he manages his career right). I'm in favor of Cook now, too. I didn't like him earlier, but his multifacted talent is really impressing me. I do miss Michael Johns and feel myself not caring about the show much anymore since he's gone. Thank goodness for Matt Grant on Mondays....

Goodness, have we nothing better to do? Hee hee.

P.S. When Brooke gets booted, maybe she'll be looking for another nanny position? I'll share her time with you, Em, if you don't need her 5/week.

Without a doubt. David Cook is so rock and roll cool. He and little David will be a great finale.

Okay, no, it's not all about cancer--but it IS all about competition. In that light, were you aware that your blog ranks #17 in a Google search for retroperitineal sarcoma? Now THAT's impressive!
